> A lightweight, single-binary observability platform for logs, metrics, and traces with a built-in UI.

A lightweight, single-binary observability platform for logs, metrics, and traces with a built-in UI.

This page describes the Levelrail template for OpenObserve (Monitoring). It deploys the services below as one Docker Compose app on your own server. Project site: [https://openobserve.ai/docs](https://openobserve.ai/docs).

Recommended memory: about 512 MiB.

## Services, ports and volumes

| Service | Image | Container ports | Volumes |
| - | - | - | - |
| `openobserve` | `public.ecr.aws/zinclabs/openobserve:v0.90.0` | 5080 | `openobserve_data -> /data` |

## Environment variables

| Service | Variable | Value |
| - | - | - |
| `openobserve` | `ZO_DATA_DIR` | Preset in the template |
| `openobserve` | `ZO_ROOT_USER_EMAIL` | Preset in the template |
| `openobserve` | `ZO_ROOT_USER_PASSWORD` | Generated at deploy |
| `openobserve` | `ZO_TELEMETRY` | Preset in the template |

Passwords and keys marked as generated are created for you when the app is deployed and stored as secrets. Values are not shown here.

## Deploy OpenObserve with Levelrail

In the dashboard, open **Apps**, choose **New app**, then **Browse templates**, and select OpenObserve. Review the Compose body and deploy.

With the CLI:

```bash theme={"dark"}
levelrail-cli templates deploy openobserve --name my-openobserve
```

See the [service template catalog](/templates-and-registry) for how templates work, and [Getting started](/getting-started) if you have not installed Levelrail yet.
